Invisalign in Laguna Niguel Orthodontics

Here at Laguna Niguel Orthodontics, we are one of the first orthodontists in the area providing Invisalign as an option for our patients. Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that offers aesthetic advantages over traditional braces as well as convenience. Invisalign may not be an option for every case, but if you are ready to begin your journey to a healthier smile, schedule your complimentary consultation with Dr. Majd to determine if Invisalign clear aligners can work for you. Dr. Majd is certified and has treated hundreds of cases with Invisalign since 1999.

Invisalign uses 3D technology to custom-create a series of clear and removable aligners that fit perfectly in your mouth. When the treatment is designed by an expert orthodontist, Invisalign aligners can move your teeth and correct your bite. The aligners are supposed to be worn about 20-22 hours/day during the course of treatment and are a great way to correct orthodontic problems without traditional braces that are fixed to the teeth.

Not only are the clear aligners virtually invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment without dietary limitations required to maintain fixed braces. Unlike traditional braces, brushing and flossing is simple with removable aligners. Invisalign aligners are more comfortable than traditional braces since they have no metal or wires, which means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting your hardware adjusted. You can view your own virtual treatment plan and see how straight your teeth will look once treatment is complete. We use the newest scanning technology that eliminated the messy molds and impressions used in the past. With this technology, we can create 3D models of your teeth in a matter of minutes.

The Invisalign 3D scanning technology creates a series of aligners that gradually move your teeth. Each set of clear aligners is worn for 1-2 weeks, only being removed to eat, drink, brush, and floss. These aligners move the teeth at a certain rate and as you progress through treatment, the teeth get closer to their final positions. You will need to visit our office about once every 4-6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing on schedule. Total treatment time and aligners used depends on the complexity and extent of treatment, but typically ranges from 6 months to 2 years or possibly more. Invisible plastic aligners require more precision when designing treatment. This is why “cheap” Invisalign options, take-home aligners offered by “Smile Direct Club”, and aligners from other mass marketed companies are not suitable choices for healthy treatment. Clear aligners make the orthodontic process seem simple but moving your teeth without proper diagnosis, treatment design, and close monitoring from an orthodontist can cause undesirable outcomes, severe harm, and irreversible damage to the health of your teeth and gums. Close monitoring of your treatment progress is crucial in protecting your teeth and gums from adverse effects. In our experience, many cases require mid-course or finishing interventions via redesign of the aligners or placement of fixed braces in hidden places where the aligners could not correct.
